A235, History of American Empire

Response sheet 4, for class, Thursday

On Tuesday you did a lot of work toward investigating the history of the United States and Greenland since the mid 19th century.  To do so, you go through several steps.  To establish what you may or may not know.  To formulate questions worth investigating.  To find trustworthy websites, verifying their trustiworthiness.  To find actual information based on research, instead of disinformation intended to deceive.

1.  To begin today’s work, please transfer over the last thing you recorded on response sheet 3 on Tuesday, which concerned your research into a specific moment in the history of the United States and Greenland, from the timeline I provided.  We will start with that in class.

2.  Of course, one doesn”t know what one doesn”t know until one starts investigating.  Then one realizes how little one knows.  So, in the document for today, what additional questions are worth investigating, beyond what you have already formulated, in order to understand the history of the United States and Greenland more precisely and more deeply?  Please identify which of the various readings inspired your various additional questions — at least 5 such questions.

3.  And what out of what you have so far learned about the United States and Greenland has surprised you the most?
